La Xunta will apply tax benefits of up to 751 million euros in 2025

Facenda’s advisor, Miguel Corgos, stressed that the Xunta “prefers to stop entering” an amount of 751 million euros in 2025 due to tax benefit measures for the taxpayer, which represents an increase of 9.5% compared to the figure for the current year (65 million more). “Nearly 90%, more precisely 87.3%, are of a social nature,” according to the head of the department regarding these bonuses.

He underlined this during the second presentation this week of the draft budget and the law of fiscal and administrative measures that accompanies it, which, after approval by the Council on Thursday, was handed over this Saturday to the Autonomous Chamber to the President of Parliament. from Galicia, Miguel Santalices. In this sense, the councilor of Facenda speaks of a “substantial” strengthening of the amount of tax benefits, since in 2024 this figure amounted to 686 million, and it was 472 in 2021.

Beyond the fact that “every year” the regional government “tries” to obtain this increase, the head of Facenda stressed to the press how “the qualitative aspect is very important”, since “Nearly 90%” of the bonuses, according to the Xunta, “are of a social nature”. “We opt or choose tax advantages not only because of the number of beneficiaries but also because of the necessary incentive for certain groups,” insisted the Facenda portfolio manager.

In the section on tax reductions, Corgos recalled that which concerns the inheritance of collaterals, the acquisition of vehicles with certain characteristics and the two mentioned last Thursday: bonus for the purchase, construction and rehabilitation of buildings for rent and reduction prices for operations to transform premises into homes.

The councilor also announced other reductions linked to “internal operations which affect the Community” and which, as he said yesterday, “attempt to reduce the cost of promoting public housing” of the Galician Institute of Housing and Solo (IGVS). “So that they can come out at a more competitive price for the Galicians who benefit from these accommodations,” added Corgos, as reported by Europa Press.

Figures by departments

The Department of SNest increases its budget by 4.9% for the year 2025, while the Ministry of the Environment will see the highest percentage increase, with an increase of 10% compared to 2024. The accounts of the Ministry of Employment will remain frozen during the “return to a normal financial rate” for having executed the European Union. funds, Corgos explained.

Emprego had “a lot of funds from the resilience mechanism” which it has already implemented and which, therefore, “disappear”, in addition to having “a lot of European social funds”. Thus, after this “overinvestment” in European funds, we now find “a normal financial rate”. In any case, Emprego “presents the same amount” and the autonomous administration’s own funds increase.

Likewise, the head of Facenda emphasized that tThree out of four euros go to the ministries of Health, Education, Social Policy and Employment.. “Social spending exceeds 10 billion euros for the first time,” he said, before recalling that “there have been budgets in which the total budget did not reach this amount.”

Concretely, the area led by Antonio Gómez Caamaño will have 5.457 million euros – 255 more than in 2024–. As for Education, spending increases by 4.2%, which represents a total of 3,041 million euros for initiatives such as the first course with free tuition at university, the reduction of the ratio of students per class or the financing of universities.

While, Social Policy increases its budget by 8.3%, which amounts to 1.323 million. In this case, Corgos highlights measures such as strengthening assistance in residential centers and in the family environment, promoting schooling in the first cycle of preschool education and increasing the assistance service family for the municipalities.

After these games, the councilor of Facenda explained that the most significant increases are reflected in Housing and Infrastructure, which increases its budget from 37.5 million for 2025 to 513. “Housing is getting a budgetary boost,” said Corgos, who added that the budget for residential land and housing construction is “tripling” and there is an aid program for rental housing construction , the rehabilitation of buildings for public housing, the development of residential land and helping to cover associated expenses for young people. Concretely, concerning young people, Corgos recalled that up to 25% of housing for sale and up to 40% of housing for rent will be reserved for them.

As a percentage, The ministry that is increasing the most is that of Environment and Climate Change, which will have a 10.3% larger budget next year, receiving 186.6 million – 17.4 more. On the contrary, those that reflect a lower percentage of increase are those of Medio Rural, Mar and Presidency – in addition to Emprego (0%) and Facenda (0.8%) –, with an increase of 3.3, 2.8 and 2.1% respectively. Furthermore, the Ministry of the Economy adds 25.8 million euros more than in 2024 (+7.4%), so it exceeds 374 million. Likewise, Culture will have 146.6 million, or 7.5% more.

On the other hand, Cortos broke down the accounts by territory. Budgets seek to “contribute to territorial balance” and The provinces with the highest per capita expenditure will be Lugo (5,840 euros) and Orense (5,742 euros).
