LaLiga and CMG sign agreement for free broadcast of matches in China

LaLiga and China Media Group (CMG) announced this Wednesday in Beijing an agreement for the broadcasting of matches in live from the 2024/25 season on the various platforms of the Chinese entityWith this agreement, CMG will also resume its role as official partner of the Spanish national competition with the Asian giant after a decade.

The signing of the agreement took place in the Chinese capital, during a ceremony attended by Javier Tebaspresident of La Liga, and Shen HaixiongVice Chairman of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Chairman of the Guild.

This agreement, which reinforces the expansion of La Liga in the Chinese market, is one of the objectives of the organization, as Tebas said in an interview with Efealso coincides with the visit of the President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, to China.

Tebas stressed that this agreement strengthens diplomatic relations between Spain and China, using football as a tool for mutual understanding.

“The partnership also aligns perfectly with Spain’s broader diplomatic efforts to deepen ties with China, as we believe football can be a powerful tool to build bridges and foster mutual understanding,” La Liga’s statement read.

The agreement is framed in the Memorandum of Understanding signed in July 2024 and promises to collaborate in the development of football in both countries.

As Javier Tebas himself points out, the signing of this “strategic agreement for the open broadcasting of La Liga in China through the ‘China Media Group'” is “a very important step to expand our presence in China and bring our football to more than a billion people.
