Latvian authorities are planning to restrict the ability of Russians to buy real estate in the country, Delfi portal reports, citing the words of the chairman of the ruling New Unity faction in the Seimas, Edmund Yurevich.
“Together with coalition partners and experts, we will evaluate at the legislative level how best to limit the opportunities for Russian citizens to purchase real estate in Latvia.” – said the deputy.
He stressed that Latvia is following the example of Finland in this matter. On September 2, they developed a bill banning Russians from real estate transactions. Russia is not mentioned directly in the document, but the restrictions will apply to countries that “may pose a threat to Finland’s national security.”
