Lavrov met in Moscow with the Pope’s special envoy for Ukraine

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov discussed cooperation in the humanitarian field in the context of the Ukrainian conflict with the Pope’s special envoy for Ukraine, Cardinal Matteo Zuppi, during a meeting in Moscow. This is stated in the message from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“During the conversation, the parties discussed in detail cooperation in the humanitarian field in the context of the conflict around Ukraine and addressed a number of current issues on the bilateral and international agenda.” – he pointed out in the apartment.

The parties also highlighted the “constructive development of the Russian-Vatican dialogue.”

Previously, an informed source in the Vatican said that Zuppi went to Moscow to discuss humanitarian issues. According to journalists, he will hold negotiations with representatives of the Russian leadership, with the commissioners for human rights and children’s rights, as well as with representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church.
