Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will hold talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on the sidelines of the high-level week of the UN General Assembly, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, announced this on Sputnik radio.
The head of the Russian diplomatic service has 11-12 meetings scheduled for September 25 on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, he said.
“Now we will obviously have 11-12. And it all starts with negotiations with our Chinese partners.” — the diplomat clarified.
He also noted that several multilateral events will be held on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
“In traditional formats, for example, on the sidelines of the political week, a number of multilateral events are organised, including thanks to our efforts: the traditional informal meeting of the CSTO foreign ministers. A meeting of the BRICS foreign ministers will also be held and organised in the coming days, which is now an important element of preparation for the summit in Kazan, since we are the chairman and our presidency is oversaturated with events and activities. There will also be a meeting of the foreign ministers of the member states of the Group of Friends in Defence of the UN Charter. And directly UN events. The minister will participate in a meeting of the UN Security Council on the situation in the Middle East. This is also a speech at the General Assembly, which is scheduled for Saturday.” — Zakharova was quoted as saying by TASS.
According to him, “the meeting will take place in the Astana format.”
