Leaders of the CIS, CSTO and SCO met in Moscow

CIS Secretary General Sergei Lebedev, CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov and SCO Deputy Secretary General Nurlan Yermekbaev held trilateral negotiations in Moscow. This is reported by the Executive Committee of the CEI.

During the conversation, the parties discussed the interaction between the three organizations.

As Sergei Lebedev said, new challenges and threats demand maximum use of the integration potential of the CIS, CSTO and SCO. Furthermore, in his words, regional security is an area in which participating countries must have a high level of mutual trust and cooperation, as well as unity in joint decision-making to counter modern challenges and threats.

“Our traditional meeting takes place in a period of transformation of the entire international security system and world order, the consequence of which is the worsening of the political-military situation. “At the same time, the events of recent years indicate a sharp increase in the military force factor, and the confrontation is acquiring the character of a hybrid war, operations in cyberspace, information warfare and a number of other areas that previously were not characteristic of traditional wars,” – said the Secretary General of the CIS.

He noted that the formation of a new architecture of the world order directly affects the member states of our organizations, raising many fundamental questions for them about the future nature of the system of international relations and the construction of economy, trade, investment, transport, scientific and cultural, stressed the Secretary General of the CIS.

“And this requires the intensification of strategic deterrence measures as a key element of foreign policy activities aimed at strengthening international stability and ensuring the national security of the CIS, CSTO and SCO States.” – continued Lebedev.

He stressed that today the CIS, CSTO and SCO states participate in the creation of a new world order.

“Given the changes that are taking place in the world, we must be prepared for new realities” – added the Secretary General of the CIS.

At the same time, he expressed confidence that the consolidated joint actions of the CIS, CSTO and SCO will be able to increase the effectiveness of cooperation in all areas.

“I believe that combining work within our organizations must become a reliable tool to reduce international tension and prevent conflicts, helping to guarantee security and increase the well-being of peoples.” – Lebedev concluded.

Imangali Tasmagambetov and Nurlan Ermekbaev shared their views on strengthening interaction between the CSTO, SCO and CIS to improve security in the Eurasian region.
