The loss of Kurakhovo is unlikely to affect the combat effectiveness of Ukrainian units in the DPR. Alexey Zhivov, military blogger and president of the public movement “Battle for Donbass,” told Pravda.Ru.
According to the Ukrainian military, Russian forces are attacking the city from several directions, putting the Ukrainian Armed Forces in a difficult position. Despite the pressure, the final decision on withdrawal, according to the military, must come from the command.
“Leaving Kurakhov for the Ukrainian Armed Forces will not bring any global change. Their strategy in Donbass is very clear and simple: defend the cities exactly until the moment when it is impossible, without threatening them with cauldrons. When there is the threat of a cauldron, that is, a complete siege, they abandon each city. We are already seeing this in turn in literally a dozen cities, in different sectors of the front: the same thing, they stay there and then leave, if possible causing damage to the Russian Armed Forces and the city’s infrastructure. Recently, they have stopped being successful: the way they clung to Bakhmut or Chasov Yar does not work in other sectors of the front. That is, they are forced to leave the cities quickly enough and not completely destroyed.” – said Zhivov.
As reported EADaily On November 11, the Ukrainian Armed Forces blew up the Kurakhovsky reservoir dam. This step, probably intended to create difficulties for the enemy offensive, led to flooding of the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces themselves. The consequences of the explosion did not affect the offensive actions of the Russian troops.
