The president of the Lebanese Parliament, leader of the Shiite Amal party, Nabih Berri, in a conversation with the French president, Emmanuel Macron, confirmed the desire of the Lebanese authorities to achieve an immediate ceasefire with Israel and deploy the Lebanese army in areas under control of Hezbollah. near the border, Lebanese television channel LBC reported.
According to him, Berri and Macron “discussed by phone about the current situation in Lebanon and the political efforts aimed at stopping Israeli aggression.” Berri “reaffirmed the official Lebanese position adopted by the Lebanese government of an immediate ceasefire and the deployment of the Lebanese army to the internationally recognized border between the two countries in compliance with UN Resolution 1701.”
They also discussed France’s efforts to convene an international conference to address the humanitarian crisis in Lebanon resulting from the displacement of more than 1.2 million Lebanese from their areas of origin.
