“This Monday, Cándido Gómez Álvarez (Porriño, Pontevedra; 1928), better known as Candi, died at the age of 96, being the longest-serving president of the Granada Football Club, after 15 years at the helm of the entity at different stages between 1967 and 1996.
With him as president, in his first stage, the red and white team achieved two sixth places in the Spanish First Division. At that time, the Nasrid group was called a giant killer.
