The company “Lego” and “Universal Pictures” will work together on three game films.
Oku.Az is reported with reference to “Variety”.
Although plot details for the untitled projects are not yet known, the directors of each film have already been announced. These will be Jake Kazdan (“Jumanji” franchise, “To Bad Teacher”), Patty Jenkins (“Wonder Woman”) and Joe Cornish (“Born to be King”). Produced by Jill Wilfert and Ryan Christians of Lego Group.
Kasdan will direct the film based on a script by Andrew Mogel and Jarrad Paul (“Hollywood Road,” “Grinder”). The project is based on an original idea and earlier draft by Matt Meader and Kevin Burroughs (“Pickup,” “Animal Friends”). Kasdan will also produce alongside Melvin Mar under the Detective Agency banners.
Jenkins will direct the film from a script he co-wrote with Geoff Johns (“Wonder Woman 1984”). Cornish will rewrite the script by Heather Ann Campbell (“Rick and Morty”) based on a script by Simon Rich (“The Miracle Worker”).
The cooperation between “Universal” and “Lego” began more than 10 years ago with the “Lego Jurassic World” series and video games. In 2014, “The Lego Movie” was released and became a multi-million dollar franchise consisting of “The Lego Movie: Batman,” “The Lego Movie: Ninjago,” and “The Lego Movie 2.”
