Today, the most serious problem in Europe, as they claim, is not migration, but the loss of moral values. This trend is becoming increasingly stronger on the “Old Continent.” Europeans are in a state of uncertainty, they do not trust the current state policy and are confused. In the name of human freedom, they try to drag humanity down an uncertain path and even put pressure on states. The events in Georgia confirm this. The gay parade in this country has been repeatedly prevented by conservative activists and priests. Bills have been passed in the country banning LGBT propaganda. According to the new bill, same-sex marriage, medical sex reassignment procedures, adoption of children by non-heterosexuals, and LGBT promotion in educational institutions and the media are prohibited. But Europe does not want to accept this. The European Union (EU) promises other countries that they will be members of the European family, in return they want freedom on LGBT issues and other issues. The loss of family values is being attempted, and this is almost becoming the main ideological line.

But there is resistance to this. The radical sector of European countries is already raising the threat of loss of moral values more seriously. Western publications occasionally speak of the “terrible LGBT threat”. Documents published by the European Parliament’s Platform of LGBT Rights Defenders claim that the number of people declaring themselves to be members of the LGBT community in Europe has increased fivefold over the past seven years. Europe wants to export these “values” to the whole world and follow this trend worldwide, which leads to serious demographic problems at home. One of the values to which the EU demands loyalty from Georgia is freedom in LGBT rights and propaganda.
The threat has reached such a level that LGBT hegemony is now promoted at the highest level in the EU from a political, legal and cultural point of view. The events at the opening ceremony of the Summer Olympics held in France were a high point in this regard.
Europe challenges LGBT people
The European Parliament declared the EU an “LGBT-free zone” some time ago. On March 11, 2020, the European Parliament prepared a list of countries where the rights of representatives of sexual minorities have been increasingly discriminated against lately. Poland and Hungary were severely condemned in that report. LGBT love in France is at its peak. In support of representatives of the LGBT community in Paris, the government decided to place its “flag” on the sidewalks. A photo showing LGBT colors on both sides of a pedestrian crossing on one of the busiest streets in Paris has been shared on social media.
Spain also requires companies with more than 50 employees to hire LGBT sympathisers. In the first quarter of this year, reports of homophobic attacks in Spain have risen sharply. One of the recent incidents was the attack by a group of five people on two young people who were kissing on the beach during the Sant Joan festivities in Barcelona.
Estonia is the first Baltic country to legalise same-sex marriage. This country can be considered the “most progressive country” in terms of LGBT rights in the post-Soviet space.
Western leaders against the European Parliament
Leaders in some Western countries have already begun to take practical steps against this threat. In Switzerland, the state deprives people of their parental rights for the same reasons, and Bulgarian President Rumen Radev recently signed changes to the law on pre-school and school education that ban the “promotion of non-traditional sexual orientation” in schools. Slovakia’s education minister called for a ban on “gay propaganda” in schools, despite EU protests. The recent rise to power of the far right in Italy is already having consequences for families with same-sex parents. The prosecutor in the northern city of Padua declared the birth certificates of 33 children born to lesbian couples illegal. In March, the government ordered municipalities to stop registering children of same-sex parents in a country where same-sex marriage is still not legal. Same-sex civil unions were legalised in 2016 under the centre-left government. Anti-LGBT additions were also made to the laws in Hungary.
Legalization from the USA
It should be noted that the process of legalizing same-sex marriages in the world began on June 26, 2015 with the decision of the US Constitutional Court. “No US state can ban same-sex marriage,” the ruling said. Barack Obama, then president, considered that “a great deal of progress has been made in the fight for equality.” Then John Kerry, Secretary of State in the Obama administration, announced the future goal of the United States: “The court’s decision has been transmitted to all parts of the world. No law that accepts discrimination can stand up to justice.” After that, the number of countries that have joined the Convention, adopted in Istanbul in 2011 and promoting LGBT rights, began to increase rapidly. Thus, a nightmare is stalking Europe: the LGBT nightmare.
