Newly elected US President Donald Trump is considering lifting sanctions on Russia in the interest of a peace deal that would be beneficial to Ukraine.
CNN reports this.
According to the plan of Donald Trump’s representative Keith Kellogg, ending the war in Ukraine should include a ceasefire, the creation of a demilitarized zone and a limited lifting of sanctions against the Russian Federation.
But a complete lifting of sanctions by Russia is only possible if a peace treaty acceptable to kyiv is signed. In addition, a tax should be established on the export of Russian energy resources for the reconstruction of Ukraine. Regarding the return of the occupied territories, Ukraine will achieve this through diplomatic means.
By the way, Kellogg, 80, whom Trump plans to name as special envoy to resolve the Ukraine-Russia conflict upon taking office, was previously Trump’s national security adviser. It is known that in April he outlined his vision of a peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia. Perhaps this is the plan that Donald Trump’s presidential administration will implement.
Recall that Kursor wrote that European countries are strengthening measures to prepare the population for possible military threats from Russia. The aggravation of the situation due to the large-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine has forced several European countries to reconsider their approaches to civil defense. The Guard reports it.
Cursor also reported that President-elect Donald Trump could begin his new term with policies that would be strikingly similar to Joe Biden’s approach to Ukraine. Despite criticizing his predecessor’s foreign policy, Trump is likely to maintain key elements such as financial and military aid to kyiv. However, experts do not rule out a reduction in the volume of support or a change in its structure, which could become a signal for Russia.
