The capital of Almería will have almost two hundred proposals for leisure, culture, theater, music, entertainment, lights, market, ice rinksports and nurseries. A month, from December 1 to January 5, to experience Christmas with all the emotion it deserves and which this year will spread its wings under the name “Almería Mágica, it’s Christmas”.
“Christmas is a positive state of mind shared by everyone. This is probably the most anticipated time of year for most Almerians of all ages. It is a privileged moment, full of proposals, invitations, meetings and opportunities to family celebration and with friends”, highlighted the mayor, María del Mar Vázquez.
After a concert by the Municipal Music on December 1st and the ballet “Swan Lake” on the 4th of the same month at the Auditorium, the big official premiere of Christmas time will take place lighting ornamental lightingwhich this year will be accompanied by a sound and light show with music from DJ ‘Don Fluor’. “And as a novelty, and in response to the proposals of the traders, whom I would like to thank once again for their collaboration with the Town Hall, in this case it will be on the Cathedral Square, on December 5, at 7:00 a.m. afternoon hours”. The special lighting of Cathedral Square, which includes a large tunnel of light and sound, will be broadcast daily at 7:00 p.m., 8:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.
To continue with the Christmas lights: one of the proven successes of the program returns with the light show in Nicolas Salmerón Park. There will be up to five daily screenings from December 20-31 (excluding December 24 and 31) and three performances from January 1-4. “This year’s Christmas lights are going to be spectacular. A classic in Almería and, as always, made with maximum energy efficiency. This year, the investment will exceed 300,000 euros,” declared the mayor.

More precisely, 1.3 million LED points will be distributed in different locations throughout the city. The most attractive part of the installation will be a dome 9 meters in diameter and 19 meters highplaced at the confluence of the four light tunnels. Around 90,000 LED light points will illuminate this installation. There will be 207 arches, 24 lampposts and 93 grouped designs. In addition, three facades will be lit and 28 figurines on the ground will be installed. There will be two pine trees and 3D structures and more than a hundred natural trees will be decorated.
Attractions in the port
Another of the classic events for the whole family at Christmas in Almería in recent years is ‘AlmeriParc’which is carried out thanks to the collaboration of the Port of Almería, which once again joins the program by celebrating activities with an amusement park from December 5 to January 6, with its own dynamisation calendar.
The Puerto Christmas Fair will promote solidarity since there will be a point of food collection non-perishable and for every 2 kilos, a free ticket for attractions will be offered. Also toys, which will be given to the various associations against child poverty, and for each toy in good condition, a gift ticket for the attractions will be given. On December 15 and 30, there will be hours without noise and with fixed lights for people with autism spectrum disorders.
One of the surprises and novelties of this Christmas will also be at the Port with “Puerto District Christmas Edition”with two essential dates: December 28 and January 4. An activity which will have a “food truck” space with a gastronomic variety inspired by European Christmas Markets where the smells and lights of Christmas will stand out, as well as a market supporting Almeria’s projects featuring artisans, graphic designers, photographers or clothing brands. And there will also be musical surprises which will be announced later.
Nurseries
Christmas is a time of traditions and the Town Hall encourages and promotes many of them. For example, the Municipal Bethlehem It can be visited from December 5 to January 6 at the “Antonio de Torres” Guitar Museum. There will be another special crèche, of a solidarity nature, with the Playmobil crib of the Argar Association of Children with Cancer, which is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year.
