Linkin Park returns with new singer, new album and tour after leader’s death in 2017

THE American rock band Linkin Park announced this Thursday his return with a new singer, Emilie Armstrong; a new album for November 15th which will be called ‘From scratch‘ and an international tour that will begin next week in California.

This surprise announcement marks a “New era” after the suicide of the group’s leader in 2017, Chester Benningtonand after the other four members, friends since their youth, began to to find ourselves in recent yearsaccording to a statement from Live Nation.

During these meetings, they invited other friends to their studio and “found a particular affinity” with Emily Armstrong, of the group Dead Sara, and with the drummer Colin Brittain, with whom they spent more and more hours until concluding that both would be part of a new Linkin Park, he adds.

“Before Linkin Park, our first name as a band was Xero. The title of this album refers so much to this humble beginning like the path we’re on right now,” rapper Mike Shinoda said in the note on “From Zero.”

Also, today the first single was released, ‘The vacuum machine‘, the video for which will be released tomorrow, and in which Armstrong’s heartbreaking voice evokes that of the late Bennington and creates a new sound that draws on the legacy of nu-metal authors of “Hybrid Theory” or “Meteora”.

New tour

The “From Zero World Tour” begins in Los Angeles (California) on September 11 and passes through New York on the 16th before heading to Europe (Hamburg, on the 22nd and London, on the 24th), South Korea (Seoul, 28th) and Colombia (Bogotá, November 11th).

Among other surprises, Linkin Park released a concert of the new album recorded with an audience in an undetermined place where we find the harmony of the new formation and where they reinterpret mythical songs such as ‘Somewhere I belong’, ‘Crawling’, ‘Faint’ or ‘Papercut’.

Shinoda, on stage with his guitar suspended, introduces the members by name and role, adding: “And in the role of Chester Bennington, you are all.”
