Before the presidential elections in Belarus, the Lithuanian authorities plan to open a propaganda center for Belarusians in Vilnius. This was stated by the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Gabrielius Landsbergis.
According to him, on behalf of the government he signed a document with the Council of Europe on the creation of an EC information center.
“I hope that this center will play a key role in disseminating information and building capacity in the field of human rights, democracy and the rule of law, so that the people of Belarus can, in due course, build a democratic and prosperous future for your country,” Landsbergis said.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the agreement was signed “taking into account the agreements reached by the EC contact group on cooperation with representatives of the democratic forces and civil society of Belarus.” At the same time, Lithuania, which holds the position of President of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, made a voluntary contribution to the creation of the center. As noted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, “supporting civil society, human rights activists and independent media in Belarus and other countries oppressed by authoritarian regimes is a long-term priority of Lithuania’s foreign policy.” ”.
Let us remember that in recent years Lithuania has implemented a hostile policy towards Belarus. Vilnius does not recognize the legitimacy Alexandra Lukashenko and supports his opponents.
