London announced sanctions against Russian RCBZ troops led by General Kirillov

Great Britain included the Radiological, Chemical and Biological Defense Troops (RCBZ) of the Russian Armed Forces on the sanctions list. This was stated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom.

The head of the RKhBZ troops, Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, the 27th Scientific Center of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation in Moscow, as well as the 33rd Central Research Testing Institute of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation are included in the blacklists.

London motivated this decision by the fact that the RCBZ is allegedly responsible for the use of chemical weapons in Ukraine, including chloropicrin. The British Foreign Office accused Russia of violating the Chemical Weapons Convention and demanded that it “immediately cease all such actions.”

department head David Lammy stated that he “took on a personal mission to denounce harmful activities” allegedly carried out by the Russian Federation. The minister promised to apply sanctions against Moscow even more actively.

EADaily Draws attention to the fact that London took this measure the day after the head of the Russian Chemical Biological Protection Plant, Kirillov, reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine used Western chemical weapons under the guise of smoke projectiles in Sudzha in August 2024. He also announced a provocation that was being prepared in kyiv to accuse Russia of using toxic substances during a special military operation.
