A Teckel named Valerie was recently seen living on the island of Kangaroo, Australia, where its owners had lost it 16 months ago. Its survival in a hostile environment in the middle of predators is miraculous.
They thought it lost forever, but Georgia Gardner and Josh Fishlock have just seen their hopes reborn against all odds. In November 2023, the couple went to Kangaroo Island, which is behind the coast of Australia, not far from Adelaïde, to a holiday in the big outdoors. In fact, this destination is considered to be of its natural reservations, its starry nights and sandy beaches.
For this stay, they had brought their dog named Valérie, still as enthusiastic about the idea of enjoying the great air with her masters. One day, for the purpose of a fishing excursion in Stokes Bay, they decide to leave Dachshund In his encapsulation. Only here does Valerie do not have to follow them to the beach when people try to catch it. For afraid of these strangers, she fled at full speed and disappeared too well.

The couple, helped by many residents, spend several days in search of them before they resign. They then thought of not seeing Valerie anymore, especially as a teeth weighing 4 kilos can quickly be perceived as lightweight prey in this natural environment.
In fact, Kangaroo Island is also known for its hostile fauna as Australian territory. It is populated by at least two species of toxic snakes and formidable eagles, considered the largest raptors in Oceania, which can tackle lamb, opossums and wallabies.
Always alive and accustomed to the wild life, remains Valerie evasive
Twelve months after its disappearance, the Kangala Wildlife Rescue Association receives final soothing news. Regular reports of inhabitants report having seen it, approx. 15 kilometers from the Bay of Stokes.
