Low-skilled migrants should not bring their families to Russia – EADaily, September 4, 2024 – Politics News, Russian News

The speaker of the lower house of the Russian Parliament, Vyacheslav Volodin, who is holding an extended meeting of the State Duma Council in Samara today, September 4, said that low-skilled migrants who come to work should be prohibited from bringing their families with them.

Speaking about improving migration policy, Volodin drew attention to the fact that residents of the Samara region are appealing to deputies with a request to restore order in this region. According to him, the migration issue is a priority in the work of the State Duma.

He drew attention to the fact that the company that invited him should be responsible for the foreign specialist who came to Russia.

“At the same time, low-skilled workers and migrants who come here to work should not bring their families and loved ones with them. We are now discussing this issue because there is a gap in the legislation that allows this.” – said.

“We must definitely try to do everything possible to ensure that, on the one hand, labour migration helps to solve the problems of economic development and, on the other, that those who come here comply with our laws, traditions and know the language. Then we will not have any problems.” — the State Duma Speaker noted.

He recalled that six laws have already been adopted on this matter.

“There are other draft laws in the State Duma portfolio at the moment. There are initiatives from deputies from the Samara region, from representatives of different factions. We will consider them by the end of this year.” – added Volodin.

As the MP stressed, “we need to find solutions to the problems that concern people.”
