Two departments, Lozère and Gard, have been placed under orange watch for “rain-floods” for Wednesday, October 15.
“The weather is getting worse.” [dans la nuit de mardi à mercredi] with a rainy and stormy passage that crosses the southeast of the country »warns Météo-France in a bulletin published on Tuesday at 4 p.m. The meteorological organization specifies that, in Languedoc-Roussillon, this phenomenon “is particularly associated with the establishment of a Cévennes episode [un type de pluie qui affecte principalement les Cévennes et le piémont cévenol] ».
Météo-France emphasizes that “Doubts remain about the intensity of these stormy rains” and so?“Therefore, an expansion of surveillance remains possible”particularly in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region and towards the Ardèche department.
The meteorological institute adds that it is a “Classic episode of the Cevennes autumn that requires special attention due to the expected heavy rains”. For Wednesday evening, accumulations of between 120 and 150 millimeters are expected in the relief of the Cevennes and occasionally up to 250 millimeters in the Aigoual massif and Mont Lozère.
