Carrying out a new scientific and technological revolution will give Belarus the opportunity to avoid a major war on its territory, Alexander Lukashenko announced this today, September 2, during a meeting with university students in the Vitebsk region.
“Our task is to carry out a new scientific and technological revolution in an accelerated format, before we are drawn into a military confrontation. Only under such conditions will there be a chance to survive as a state and avoid a major war on our land. This is the harsh truth of life. I want you to understand the gravity of this historical moment. Because tomorrow you will work in production or in a laboratory, advancing scientific thought. We are counting on you. We hope that you will be ready to make enormous efforts to achieve the goal set for the state.” – said.
At the same time, the Belarusian leader noted that “the current struggle for global technological leadership, like the arms race of the second half of the last century, has unfortunately once again brought the world to the brink of the abyss.”
“In one part of the world there is already a spark, somewhere the confrontation is taking place with weapons in hand… It is not only about science, technology, the real sector of the economy. This also applies to the social sphere and to relations between us. But the problem is not speed. The point is that countries and peoples are drawn into a race for the possession of technology. Nothing new.” – Lukashenko stressed.
