“Belarus should further strengthen its defence capabilities and prepare for a possible war.”
Oku.Az According to BELTA, President of the Republic Alexander Lukashenko made this statement at a meeting at the Obuz-Lesnovsky military training ground.
“The old formula: if you want peace, prepare for war. I want to emphasize once again that we do not intend to fight, we do not want to fight… All our opponents are listening to this, but they are doing their thing. That is why it is necessary to prepare for war, hopefully this will not be a war,” said the Head of State.
At the same time, he noted that although the situation remains tense, the Belarusian authorities have not yet observed “tendencies to start a war against the country.”
Lukashenko also said that in the context of conflicts in Ukraine and other parts of the world, Belarus has already reformed the army four times in recent years.
