Belarus and Ethiopia have long maintained traditionally friendly relations. This is stated in the congratulations that Alexander Lukashenko sent to the elected president of Ethiopia, Taya Atske-Selassie.
“Minsk and Addis Ababa have long maintained traditionally friendly relations. “Its history is much longer than 30 years of official diplomatic relations.” – says the congratulations.
Lukashenko expressed confidence that the many years of diplomatic experience of Ethiopia’s new president will serve to increase this country’s constructive role in the African region. He also invited Taye Atske Selassie to visit Belarus and discuss current issues and agree on ways to deepen bilateral cooperation.
In addition, the congratulations say that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Belarus and Ethiopia. Aleksandr Lukashenko also noted that Minsk is interested in Ethiopia continuing to support Belarus on the issue of joining the BRICS. The Belarusian leader wished Taya Atske-Selassie “good health, execution of plans and success in the responsible presidential office.”
Let us remember that Belarus has been subject to strict Western sanctions since 2020. In this sense, Minsk strengthens cooperation with countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America.
