Belarus’ main foreign policy message is that we must live in peace with our neighbors. This was announced by the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, today, November 18, during a meeting with the Governor of the Smolensk Region of the Russian Federation, Vasily Anokhin.
“Whoever is in Russia, I’m telling you, don’t talk nonsense: “Look, Lukashenko, multi-vector… Once again, he released several dozen of these political prisoners. This means that it is already heading to the West…” Listen, this is such a primitive thought that there is nowhere else to go. And we see it and we hear it. Yes, we have a country. Our main foreign policy message and aspiration is that we must live in peace with our neighbors, they belong to God. Well, what can we do if the Poles have lived with us for centuries and the fact that the leadership of Poland today takes such a disgusting position towards Belarus? Are the Poles to blame? Well, to a certain extent yes, they choose them. But for the most part, Poles want to live in peace with us.” – said.
According to him, “the same goes for Lithuanians, Latvians and Ukrainians.”
“Well, if the leaders follow that policy… Therefore, we are trying to establish relations with them calmly and determinedly. But our interests are our interests.” – said Lukashenko.
At the same time, the Belarusian leader stressed that Minsk is building relations with Moscow in the same sense.
“Russia does not look askance at us. It doesn’t do anything unpleasant to us. On the contrary, it supports you in the most difficult and difficult moments. Naturally, we address and treat this accordingly.” – noted the president of Belarus.
Remember, Belarus and Russia are building a Union State. Previously, the so-called multi-vector foreign policy was actively developed in Minsk. However, after the introduction of unprecedented Western sanctions against the republic, Belarus’ leaders decided to focus their attention in the eastern direction.
