Madrid becomes the setting for The Walking Dead: apocalypse and zombies in the streets near Puerta del Sol

This week, the streets of the Spanish capital have become a post-apocalyptic scene, with dilapidated cars and vegetation invading public spaces, while zombies roam freely. The image is fictional but also real: it is the setting of one of the most popular series of recent times, which Madrid has chosen for its filming.

It was an open secret, but actors Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride revealed it in a video with a few words in Spanish, with which they announced the start of filming in Spain. The two were seen in various neighborhoods of the capital, especially around Puerta del Sol, specifically on Arbalán and Madrazo streets, two small streets parallel to San Jerónimo Street.

Filming began last weekend, with a spoiler from Reedus (Daryl) on his X account, warning that he was already in Spain.

The actor moved through the aforementioned streets, with an impressive set to try to recreate a world devastated by solanum, in which humans struggle to survive.

This is the setting for the third season of the series. The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon and Carol’s Booka spin-off of the original saga, already completed, broadcast by the AMC network.

Many fan accounts of the series publish abundant graphic material with videos and photographs of the Madrid settings.

One of those who documents every step of the filming is the X user Raquel Rubio, who has been detailing everything that surrounded the recording in Madrid for a week.

Thanks to his publications and those of other fans of the series we can know that the action is filmed in Madrid but in reality it takes place in the city of London. The details go so far that the production company has used a double-decker bus in poor condition to recreate the London atmosphere.

One of the filming spaces also appears to be inside the Palacio de la Trinidad, the impressive mansion located on Avenida de América that recently hosted the latest edition of Casa Decor and from where the actor who plays Dylan was seen leaving, where he greeted the fans gathered outside his door. Actress Melissa McBride also appeared on set.

Now we just have to wait for the result to see the result of the filming in Madrid on the small screen. For those who can’t wait, here’s a little preview of what was recorded, behind the scenes:
