Madrid PSOE leaders condemn Lobato and ask him to resign before Friday

Madrid socialism sings. Several leaders of the PSOE in Madrid do not hide their discomfort with the regional secretary general, Juan Lobato, for having conducted his conversation with Pilar Sánchez Acera, chief of staff of Minister Óscar López, before a notary, and they consider that it is a error this will immediately cost the charge. Some believe that this is even before the 41st Federal Congress which is being held in Seville and begins this Friday.

And going to the notary is an exercise that “no one understands”, in addition to “a betrayal” which damages his image among the party bases, to the point that some think it is likely that in the coming days In a few hours, he will lose the support of more than half of the regional executive. This last point would have no organic significance, since a modification of the statutes subsequent to the famous Federal Committee of 2016 which led to Pedro Sánchez’s resignation modified the article which established the creation of a management company in the event of resignation half plus one of the management.

Madrid’s socialists also point out that the last hours have been critical for Lobato and that there are internal movements and calls between officials to force his departure. At this stage, the various sources consulted admit to Europa Press that the party leadership at national level is also playing its cards “to bring him down”.

A leader of the Madrid federation, less critical of Lobato, regrets that this episode serves as a pretext for Moncloa and Ferraz to try to “kill” him and emphasizes that they are putting pressure to reduce their internal support as much as possible in the community. possible. The political storm arose after Lobato claimed that Moncloa had sent him an email containing the contact details of the friend of the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso. She also admitted that she went to a notary to record a conversation with Sánchez Acera last March, when she was chief of staff to López, who at the time was chief of staff to Pedro Sánchez.

Lobato defended that he went to the notary to prove that the information he had and that he used against Ayuso during the parliamentary debate in the Madrid Assembly came from the media and not from a leak from the prosecution , in the middle of a legal investigation into revealing secrets that affect the Attorney General himself. However, the Madrid PSOE considers that it has given the image of “selling its own”, since Sánchez Acera is part of the party leadership in Madrid as institutional secretary and regularly speaks with it to prepare the sessions of control to the executive of Ayuso, as he himself indicated so.

In this sense, they indicate that it is the most serious mistake he has made, and that “he has made mistakes to a point that can no longer be removed.” They also assume that in the coming hours there will be a mass resignation within the regional executive that will force Lobato to step down, even if statutory regulations do not require him to do so.

The most critical believe that he should resign immediately because it is not possible for him to lead the Madrid delegation to the 41st Federal Congress which opens Friday, November 29 in Seville. In this sense, they indicate that he has lost the confidence of the majority of the party and that he cannot represent the activists in these conditions. They also emphasize that he will not have the strength to place Madrid officials at the head of the party at the federal level.

And all this happens at a time when Ferraz welcomes the hypothetical candidacy of Óscar López for the position of secretary general in the next regional congress and his subsequent candidacy for the Community of Madrid. The PSOE-M interprets Lobato’s decision to go to the notary as an attempt to protect himself from the federal leadership when the time comes and which clearly backfired.
