In the middle of the year the Comprehensive Neuro-Rehabilitation Center will open, then an Institute of Neurotechnology for brain health.
The Draft General Budget for 2025 allocates 10.459 million to Health, or 3% more than the previous regional accounts. This will be the department that will increase its contributions the most for next year. Overall, the budget scenario increases by 4 percent, to 28.662 million euros. And of this figure, 11 will be used to open, at the Isabel Zendal Enfermera Hospital, the Functional Neurorehabilitation center which will open its doors in the middle of the year, and later, an Experimental Institute of Neurotechnology for brain health, which will join the day for ALS patients which is now open.
This Wednesday, the Governing Council will approve the finance bill for next year, which will then be sent to the Assembly – Thursday – to begin its parliamentary processing. Health is the area experiencing the strongest growth: 36 percent of total regional accounts are devoted to it.
Among the investments planned in this area are those intended for Zendal hospital, which will become a reference center in brain health. On the one hand, with the ALS day center which has already treated 83 patients. But in addition, there is the Neurorehabilitation Center which will be dedicated to the recovery of neurological and spinal cord injuries in children and adults, and will have the most advanced technology and a hospitalization area for patients suffering from spinal cord injuries that require it.
The next step will be to launch the Experimental Neurotechnology Institute for Brain Health, which will enable further research into neurodegenerative diseases such as dementia, Parkinson’s disease or Alzheimer’s disease. At Zendal, there will also be cutting-edge devices for research and medical diagnosis of neurodegenerative pathologies.
