Maduro gives UN chief in Venezuela ‘evidence’ of US ‘conspiracy’

The President of Venezuela, Nicolas Madurosubmitted this Friday to the resident coordinator of the Organization of The United Nations (UN) in the country, Gianluca Rampolla, “proof” of an alleged conspiracy which, according to public broadcaster VTV, is preparing in the United States against the Chavista government.

The head of state had a meeting with Rampolla, also the UN humanitarian coordinator in Venezuela, “with the aim of presenting him with evidence of the conspiracy that is promoted from “Washington vs. Caracas”according to the VTV report broadcast on Telegram.

The state channel broadcast footage of the meeting, which took place hours after a telephone conversation between the president and UN Secretary-General António Guterres.

Before meeting Rampolla, Maduro – in another televised event – explained that he had committed to holding this meeting with Guterres “to provide him with much more detailed information on the conspiracy promoted from US territory.”

It is about a plan “to bring violence and terrorist attacks against Venezuela”” he added.

The Chavista leader denounced the fact that his government is facing “external aggressions”after the elections of July 28, of which he was declared the winner, a result that was questioned inside and outside the country, particularly after the complaint of fraud filed by the majority opposition.

This is the “recruitment of mercenaries to invade the country and assassination attempts” and a campaign on “social networks, in which they even promote fundraising to carry out attacks against institutions”, as Maduro warned – the Executive explained in a statement – during his telephone conversation with Guterres.

The president thus referred to a campaign promoted by the American military businessman Erik Prince, in which – through social networks – he calls for raising 10 million dollars to “restore democracy” andIn the South American nation, an initiative that has received more than a million dollars in the last five days, according to the movement’s website.
