The President of Venezuela, Nicolas Madurodeclared this Monday that he hoped that the anti-Chavista leader Maria Corina Machado and “corrupt opposition” are “captured” and “pursued” for the “theft” of Citgo, the subsidiary of the US-based state oil company PDVSA, which faces seizure for non-payment .

Last Friday, the Attorney General, Tarek William Saabreported the opening of an investigation into this matter after receiving the Parliament’s report from the first vice-president of the House, Pedro Infante, who assured that the documentation brings together “elements of evidence” which “demonstrate the implications that these actors have in the theft of the oil company.

Infante explained that the report consists of 19 documents, among them minutes of legislative sessions and agreements approved in 2019, when Guaidó proclaimed himself interim president and was recognized by around 60 countries.

Furthermore, submitted reports to the prosecution on ad hoc committees “illegally appointed” by Parliament in 2019when the anti-Chavista majority that controlled Parliament considered Maduro’s continuation as head of state illegitimate due to his controversial re-election in 2018.
