Mallorca grassroots football referees to wear messages against verbal violence on their shirts

A total of 350 young football referees from Mallorca they will wear on their t-shirts messages against verbal violence during the next 2024-2025 season. This is a campaign signed between the Consell de Mallorca and the Football Federation of the Balearic Islands (FFIB) which aims to avoid these kinds of episodes on the pitches, in the stands and among the athletes themselves.

The agreement was presented this Thursday at the Sant Ferran sports center in Palma by the two institutions. The t-shirts will display various messages against verbal violence such as “don’t shout“, “Don’t insult” either “With clean sport we always win“.

This campaign is expected to have a reach of 200,000 people per week. Three first division referees attended the presentation: Mallorcan Mateo Busquets Ferrer, Guillermo Cuadra Fernández and Amy Peñalver.

The president of the Consell de Mallorca, the popular Llorenç Galmésassured that the objective is to “bring closer positions around the promotion of a pleasant and peaceful coexistence», in addition to allowing clubs, families and technicians to receive the message.

For his part, the president of the Balearic Islands Football Federation (FFIB), Jordi Horrachsaid that the campaign is in line with the main line and philosophy of work in grassroots football, “let children love to play“. “Every year we see new cases of violence in the fields and we cannot stop insisting on fair play,” he added.
