The next court session was held in the criminal case of Yashar Abbasov, accused of the murder of the youngest son of a woman with whom he lived in an informal marriage in the Binagadi district of Baku.
Oku.AzYashar Abbasov’s aunt testified as a witness in the trial presided over by the judge of the Baku Serious Crimes Court, Novruz Karimov.
He said his nephew called him at two in the morning and informed him that a woman he knew and her son were evicted from their rented house, so he told them he wanted to come.
“They came in the morning, I prepared a place for them. They stayed, I went to work. I called Yashar and told him there was food in the refrigerator, give it to them. I found out about the boy’s death later.”
Victim Ipek Ahmadova’s objection to this witness testimony sparked a dispute between the parties. Therefore, the victim was removed from the courtroom by order of the judge.
The next witness, Abdulla Abbasov, said that he was in prison together with Yashar Abbasov. In his statement he stated that the day before the incident, Ipek approached them with his son and told them that they had been in an accident, that Yasar was in intensive care at the hospital and asked them for a place to spend the night.
“They stayed with us at night. Tomorrow I found out that the boy had died. He said he had been injured in an accident. He wanted to bury him, but I didn’t agree and I called the ambulance.”
The prosecutor: “Why didn’t you report this to the police?” – the witness avoided answering the question. At the same time, the prosecutor highlighted that there is a contradiction between the witness’s statement in the investigation and his statement in court.
The victim, Ipek Ahmadova, claimed that the witness lied and said he knew about the boy’s death that night.
“I saw that the boy was dead there at night and I shouted that Abdullah, the boy had died. Abdullah and another friend who was there calmed me down and told me to wait until morning.”
It should be noted that Yashar Abbasov is accused of beating Ipek Ahmadova, with whom he lived in an unofficial marriage, and intentionally killing Ali Seyidveli’s physically disabled nine-year-old son Ahmadzadeh.
It should be noted that the victim, Ipek Ahmadova, is in prison accused of “illegal use of narcotics.”
