The Civil Guard arrested a 42-year-old Italian in Granadilla de Abona (Tenerife) by attempted murder of his wifea 33-year-old Colombian, whom he attacked with a knife in presence of their daughterone year.
The inmate entered the victim’s home and attacked her with a knife in the chest and headfor which she had to be transferred to hospital, sources close to the investigation informed EFE.
Subsequently, the attacker tried to commit suicide with the murder weapon, with cuts to his neck and was also taken to hospital in serious condition. The arrest took place around 2:30 p.m. this Sunday, according to sources.
This arrest for attempted sexist crime takes place on the day which commemorates the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, a day commemorated every November 25. In Spain, official data so far shows 40 gender-based killings so far this year, although that figure is expected to rise with the latest two cases recorded this weekend.
