The Civil Guard of Gran Canaria has arrested a 64-year-old man as the alleged perpetrator of a drug trafficking crime, having hidden him in the false bottom of the car he was driving. 1.1 kilos of cocaine and more than 30,000 euros.
The arrest took place after the Civil Guard learned of the events of August 24, during a control device of fiscal protection and illicit drug trafficking by different units of Santa María de Guía, supported by the Cynological Service, in the verification of vehicles and people. in the port of Agaete, coinciding with the arrival of several ferries coming from Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
During the inspection of one of the vehicles inspected, the dog from the canine service marked the possible drug location Inside the cabin, the agents therefore carried out a thorough reconnaissance.
After an hour of searching, they found a false bottom installed in the vehicle, in which four packages were transported, which once unsealed, it was found that three of them corresponded to bundles of banknotes of different denominations, reaching a total amount exceeding 30,000 euros, while the other package contained a white powdery substance, to which a drug screening reagent was applied and with which it was determined that it was cocaine, weighing a total of 1,129 grams.
All the parcels located were vacuum packed, after applying substances with very intense odors, which would have been intended to prevent or hinder the detection by dogs in the case of a police check, not having achieved its objective, since it was immediately detected by the canine unit officers present.
For all these reasons, the sole occupant of the vehicle was arrested and the investigation area of the main station of Santa María de Guía was responsible for carrying out the corresponding procedures. The detainee was placed at the disposal of the custody court, which ordered his entry into preventive detention pending trial.
