The National Police arrested a man as the alleged perpetrator of two thefts committed in two pharmacies in the municipality on the same day, Madrid Police Headquarters said in a statement.
The events occurred on November 11, with a first robbery early in the morning, when an individual entered a pharmacy wearing a hat and hiding his face with different clothes. After intimidating employees with a knife and showing a gun, he managed to steal money from the cash register and various medications.
Later, around 6:45 p.m., another robbery was committed in a pharmacy located a little over a kilometer from the first establishment. The alleged perpetrator wore a fake weapon on his belt and a knife hidden in his forearm and his physical characteristics, in addition to his “modus operandi”, were very similar to those of the individual during the first robbery.
The suspect entered the establishments by hiding his face and covering his head with a cap to make his identification difficult and managed to take drugs and money from the cash registers by threatening the employees with the gun and the knife he carried.
On the same day, a police investigation was opened, including a special search device to identify the perpetrator of the thefts, which resulted in an arrest only a day later, on November 12, when the officers deployed on site detected a individual whose characteristics matched the possible perpetrator.
After carrying out his identification and a pat-down, they located clothes inside his sports bag that matched those worn by the perpetrator of the robberies at the time he committed the robberies. In addition, he wore a fake pistol on his belt and hid a knife with an awl in his forearm.
For all these reasons, this man was arrested as allegedly responsible for two crimes of theft with violence and intimidation and has already been brought to justice.
