The Civil Guard of Calvià, within the framework of Operation ‘Jamer’, has arrested a young Majorcan, for whom a prison sentence has been handed down, accused of the crime of attempted homicide and another of injuries for his alleged involvement in several violent attacks committed against homosexual men on the beach known as Mago de Calvià.
The investigation began last month, when a German tourist was brutally attacked on the aforementioned beach. The man was attacked with a stone to the head and then hit with a hammer in the back, causing serious injuries. Following this attack, the victim had to be admitted with a guarded prognosis to a hospital in Palma.
Another attack occurred on September 20 in the same place, when another German tourist who was enjoying the beach with his partner was the victim of a violent assault. The incident occurred when the couple decided to go up a path to take photos of the surroundings. At that moment, a man surprised them and, without saying a word, hit the victim on the back of the head, causing him to fall from a slope. .about ten meters high, causing injuries for which he had to be taken to hospital for treatment.
The researchers, after analyzing the patterns of aggression and witness statements, as well as an exhaustive analysis of the people and vehicles that accessed this beach, managed to link the two attacks together, identifying a clear component of hatred towards the homosexual community.
The arrest took place at his home and he was later transferred to the headquarters of the Civil Guard in Calvià, where a police investigation was carried out. After being brought to court, the judge on duty ordered his preventive detention without bail, accused of the crime of attempted homicide and another of injuries.
