The Minister of Economy and Finance, spokesperson for the Junta de Castilla y León, Carlos Fernández Carriedo, advanced his intention to meet “immediately” with the representatives of the different parliamentary groups to take up “the challenge” of concluding “a great budget agreement”. “to obtain its approval in the Cortes after having advanced the spending ceiling during the parliamentary plenary session held this Wednesday, made possible by the abstention of the PSOE.

During the press conference following the Government Council, Fernández Carriedo indicated that his objective is for these meetings to begin next week with a first meeting with representatives of the PSOE. “Dialogue can do everything,” he defended, estimating that with the approval of the previous stage of the 2025 budget process, it has been demonstrated that the PP minority government “works, manages and can reach agreements”.

However, he made it clear that before dealing with a budget bill, the Council must have “the security” of its approval by the Cortes, which is why he guaranteed his willingness to negotiate integrate, following previous conversations, some of the priority elements for groups as long as the “principles and values ​​of the Council” are respected.

“We have very clear ideas about our principles and our values, we must see what others ask of us”, declared the spokesperson of the Council, who defended that the Government had already done the work with the approval of the Expenditure Ceiling. and the presentation of a finance bill. “Now it must be everyone’s will”was installed.

Regarding the new round of contacts that he announced for next week, Carriedo revealed that he would seek to close the meetings “immediately” so that the agreement is achieved “as soon as possible” and that he would prioritize to the PSOE, with whom he will meet first.

“The Council did what it had to do” said in reference to the approval of his spending capping proposal and the announcement of the budget bill, and he added that “no one was forced to vote” yesterday during the plenary session of the Cortes, but that they did it in all conscience.

Asked about Soria Ya’s opposing vote, since the Council did not accept any of the requests made by this formation to support the spending ceiling, Carriedo said he respected it, but added that “voted like Vox and Podemos”.

“Many people already think that this political party is more comfortable in opposition criticizing whoever governs than trying to have things and agreements for the territory it claims to defend: if they come to defend positive questions for the budget of Castilla y León, we are always open, “if it is simply political criticism, then Parliament is a very appropriate place for it”, indicated the spokesperson. Finally, he added that yesterday “by remaining in opposition with Vox and Podemos, he also chose the place where he believes he should be”
