Around 400 athletes of all categories competed on the Reconquista Avenue circuit and a tribute was paid to Juan López, who has just broken the European marathon record for those over 80 years old.
The Balearic Marc Tur and the native of Pontevedra Antia Chamosa They won this Saturday afternoon during the 36th edition of the walking the “Espada Toledana” route, one of the highest level and most traditional events on the Spanish calendar of this sporting discipline which has given so much international success to our sport. The times of the two winners over the five kilometers were 19:49 and 21:34 minutes respectively. The absolute men’s podium was completed by José Manuel Pérez Rubio and Álvaro López, while Raquel González and Laura García-Caro reached the women’s podium.
The test took place on the already traditional one kilometer circuit on Reconquista Avenue. So they did five laps before crossing the finish line. Around 400 athletes competed in different categories. This “Toledan Sword” is organized by the Toledo Athletics Club.
Before the march, a tribute was paid to Juan López, who recently broke the European marathon record for over 80s (3:39:10).
This Sunday, from 10:00 a.m., the XLV Cross Nacional Espada Toledana will take place at Safont Park.
