María Jesús Montero puts her “hand on fire” for her chief of staff, to whom Aldama says she gave 25,000 euros

Montero also put his hand to the fire for the secretary of organization of the PSOE, Santos Cerdanwhom Aldama accused of having collected 15,000 euros on the same land.

This Tuesday, the vice-president was present at the commission of inquiry into the Koldo affair which is held in the Senate. His appearance, however, lasted less than an hour, since it was suspended so that he could vote at the Congress of Deputies, which elects the president of RTVE.

This is a striking cancellation, given that the election of president of RTVE It must be produced in the first round by two-thirds of Congress, figures which the government does not have. The Senate commission of inquiry was therefore canceled while Montero’s vote in Congress is not essential, and will resume this Tuesday at 4 p.m.

During his short appearance, Montero only answered questions from UPN senator María del Mar Caballero. The vice president reduced the credibility of the story of Victor de Aldama and he recalled that he had made various statements naming the government and the PSOE as the accused, “so he had no obligation to tell the truth.”

Aldama told the National Court that Carlos Moreno asked for money for the land and that the money was given to him by Koldo García, the former councilor of Jose Luis Abalosin an envelope he gave her in a restaurant. He also assured that Cerdán had done the same and that 15,000 euros had been given to him in a bar opposite the PSOE headquarters on Ferraz Street.

Montero said that Aldama had told “a series of lies about honorable people” and that his chief of staff “is a magnificent public servant” and that, furthermore, Moreno himself was going to take legal action against Aldama.

“The Civil Guard reports never referred to him. This comes from a statement from a person who comes from prison to testify as an accused, who has no obligation to tell the truth. None UCO report never revealed anything about my chief of staff,” Montero said.

This confidence also extended to Santos Cerdán. “I put my hand in the fire for them. No investigation has been opened. The police cannot be at the mercy of a criminal and his defense strategy”» added Montero.

The vice president also assured that she had never met Víctor de Aldama, either telematically or in person, and that when she attended the 60th birthday party of José Luis Ábalos (celebration organized by Koldo García ), she did it at the invitation of the family of the former minister

For Montero, the indications that Aldama made against his ministry, the Treasury, could be due to the fact that it was the Tax agency the one who initiated the actions that resulted in his indictment and detention.

“I don’t think it’s a coincidence that this man, who is a confessed criminal, who made these statements while he was in prison, targeted the Ministry of Finance,” he said.
