Maritime Rescue rescues 310 migrants from three cayucos heading to the Canary Islands on Tuesday

This Tuesday, Maritime Rescue rescued a total of 310 migrants aboard three canoes heading to the Canary Islands, sources from the organization informed EFE.

The first of the boats was located this Monday at noon by a ship 520 kilometers south of Gran Canaria, with 120 people, among whom was a woman who was in a serious condition.

According to the testimonies collected from the migrants once they boarded the maritime rescue ship, the pirogue in which they were travelling left Nouakchott, the capital of Mauritania, two days ago, and the majority of them have Malian nationality, as detailed in the sources consulted.

Another barge ended up 9.6 kilometres south of La Restinga, in El Hierro, after detecting an echo from the SIVE radar and the Salvamar Adhara went there, accompanying it to the port with 150 people.

The other canoe was in a similar position and was carrying 40 people on board who were also taken to La Restinga, where they were treated by an emergency unit.
