Maritime Rescue reported it was suspended on Wednesday, without result, the search and rescue operation of the 54 migrants missing in the sinking of a canoe in El Hierrooccurred last Saturday. The cayuco which left Mauritania and capsized at dawn while about six kilometers from the coast of El Hierro, when its occupants stood up during the rescue operation.

Two maritime rescue vessels participated in the search work, as well as a rescue plane and helicopter, as well as a Civil Guard patrol boat, a Canarian government helicopter and a Red Cross boat.
