Marta Barrachina reaffirms her commitment to water emergencies in Castellón and will finance 100% of the aid requested for drinking water reservoirs

The President of the Provincial Council of Castellón, Marta Barrachinareaffirms its commitment to water emergencies in the municipalities and will finance 100% of the aid requested for drinking water reservoirs.

The ordinary plenary session corresponding to the month of September, which will take place next Tuesday, September 24, includes the approval of a credit modification to allocate nearly 121,000 euros to complete the budget of the first call of the AGA (Drinking Water Supply), to do this, subsidize the total amount requested by the municipalities for the supply of water tanks.

As expressed by the president of the provincial institution, “we continue to join forces to ensure the supply of water in all corners of our province, with special emphasis on meeting the needs of the smallest municipalities and ensuring that they have the same opportunities.”

In this regard, the Vice President and Head of the Cooperation Sector, Héctor Folgado, explained that “the increase in the number of applications for the first resolution of the call for AGM “has resulted in a significant reduction in the percentage of subsidy provided for current expenditure activities, including the provision of drinking water tanks.”

Now, in order to guarantee this need in terms of water supply by reservoirs, a credit modification will be approved by which municipalities of less than 20,000 inhabitants that in the first call for grants from the AGA they requested an amount greater than that granted to cover the cost of supplying drinking water through water reservoirs, they will receive the remaining amount.

Thus, the municipalities benefiting from this exceptional subsidy are Vallibona (2,746.93 euros), Costur (23,366.53 euros), Canet lo Roig (13,992.18 euros), Ares del Maestrat (21,725.64 euros), Xodos (26,355.06 euros), La Pobla de Benifassà (5,493.36 euros). euros), Catí (6,243.85 euros) and Benafigos (21,031.92 euros). Among these municipalities, it should be noted that they do not exceed 500 inhabitants, with the exception of Costur, Canet lo Roig and Catí, which also do not exceed 1,000 inhabitants, “which demonstrates the commitment of this government provincial government to respond to the demands and needs of smaller municipalities, especially with the aim of guaranteeing the supply of drinking water,” said President Marta Barrachina.

The provincial leader stressed that from the Provincial Council “we are reinforcing our commitment to contribute to improving the quality of life of the 135 municipalities of the province, filling any deficit that may exist and guaranteeing basic resources and services throughout the territory.” such as “In this case, a good as important and vital as water.”

The incorporation of this new item of almost 121,000 euros to cover the cost of the drinking water tanks requested by the eight municipalities mentioned above, is added to the 500,000 euros of the first call for subsidies from Drinking water supply. And to all this is added the second phase to complete the million euros reserved for this package of subsidies that will be allocated to actions related to the domestic drinking water supply and distribution service, such as the replacement of pumping wells and catchments. replacements due to breaks in the supply and distribution networks, the supply of drinking water through reservoirs and any other shock measure. Eligible measures must be considered as actions of immediate application aimed at guaranteeing the supply of drinking water in extraordinary situations and which, due to their unpredictability, cannot be programmed in advance. Regarding the allocation of subsidies, three criteria are assessed: the urgency of the action, which will take into account the seriousness of the problem to be solved; the total population directly affected by the proposed action and the impact on the provincial socio-economic balance, with particular attention to municipalities with the lowest economic and management capacity.

Let us recall that in addition to this package of subsidies for the current year increased its budget by 25%The Castellón Provincial Council has responded to the water emergency by allocating more than 300,000 euros as an extraordinary injection to supply reservoirs in twelve municipalities. Various agreements have also been signed to alleviate supply problems such as in Morella, Todolella or Alfondeguilla, as well as the signing of an agreement in favor of the Morella City Council for an amount of 180,000 euros to cover the costs of a crucial operation. work to guarantee the water supply during the Sexenni festival and thus avoid an increase in residents’ water bills.

Ensuring the supply of drinking water is a priority objective of the Provincial Council of Castellón “And with this objective, we will always be alongside the municipalities of our province, reaching out to them and being diligent in solving problems and guaranteeing basic resources,” concluded President Marta Barrachina.
