Marta Barrachina strengthens collaboration and coordination with the Generalitat in security and emergency matters in Castellón

The president of the Provincial Council of Castellón, Marta Barrachina, strengthens with the Council the security collaboration and coordination and emergencies in the province.

The provincial leader met this Monday with the Minister of Justice and the Interior, Salome Pradasto analyze the agreements between the two institutions with the aim of providing a rapid and agile response to emergencies and fires. In this sense, during the meeting held this Monday at the Provincial Palace, the two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to the coordination and provision of the necessary means to quickly activate the protocols in case of emergency and fires forestry. With this in mind, they carried out a follow-up analysis of the agreements in order to guarantee their optimal application.

On the one hand, the Ministry of Justice and Interior allocates a total of 1,473,856.22 euros to the collaboration agreement between the Valencian Agency for Security and Emergency Response (AVSRE) and the Provincial Firefighters Consortium of Castellón for the renewal of the emergency brigade service for risk mitigation in the municipalities of the province of Castellón.

The purpose of this agreement is the provision, under direct management, of the service, the main objectives of which are andl rescue people and property, put out fires and prevent and intervene in any type of emergencyThe collaboration agreement between the two institutions is made up of 45 operators divided into nine brigades of five members each, coordinated by the Provincial Firefighters Consortium of Castellón.

It is worth highlighting the important work that these brigades carry out both in rural areas and in coastal urbanizations to protect people and infrastructure from risks and it is in these areas that they act directly and preventively on the fuel of the urban-forest interfaceby eliminating the continuity of vegetation, creating green safety strips in urban areas and accesses to rural populations particularly at risk, where cleaning tasks are carried out on roads, ravines, waterways, bridges and strategic areas.

They are also responsible for the maintenance and conservation of forest fire fighting infrastructure, such as fire breaks or fire storage reservoirs. “These mitigation brigades are of vital importance in the fight against fires and the more we engage and work in prevention and extinction works, the more we will ensure and preserve our natural environment,” stressed the President of the Provincial Council.

On the other hand, the Ministry of Justice and the Interior allocates 1,030,000 euros in a second agreement with the provincial institution that involves the contribution of technical personnel and material means. The Ministry provides forest technicians and coordinators to direct the efforts to extinguish forest fires and to plan and supervise the tasks of the forest fire service. This agreement includes the appropriate means of equipment, maintenance and fuel necessary for the management, distribution and organization of work with maximum efficiency and planning to guarantee the best intervention in operations and maximum prevention.

For her part, the Minister of Justice and Interior, Salomé Pradas, highlighted the “inexcusable collaboration of institutions in a matter as vital as emergencies”. That is why it is important “to allocate all the necessary resources to carry out the necessary preventive actions aimed at reducing these risks and generating the infrastructures that may be necessary in the event of an unexpected emergency”. Likewise, the advisor stated that “We want the action of the Generalitat to reach the 135 municipalities of the province of Castellón in order to advance justice, security and emergency issues.

Today’s meeting with the Minister of Justice and the Interior is part of the commitment of the President of the Provincial Council of Castellón to be the spokesperson for the entire province so that the competent administrations respond to their demands and needs. “In our work as the City Council of City Councils, we address with the competent administrations the necessary investments so that our province continues to progress and continues to add development and opportunities,” concluded the highest representative of the provincial institution.
