Ricardo Martí Fluxá, born in Madrid on September 8, 1950, is a prominent lawyer and member of the Spanish diplomatic service who has worked in both public administration and the private sector. He graduated in Law from the Complutense University of Madrid. Martí Fluxá entered the Diplomatic School and began his career in the Spanish foreign service. Between 1976 and 1982, he held several important positions. He was director of Coordination and technical affairs within the Firm Minister of Foreign Affairs (1976-1978) and, later, chief of staff of the same ministry (1978-1980). Later, he held the position of chief of staff of the Minister of Territorial Administration (1980-1981) and first vice-president of the government (1981-1982).
In 1982, he was appointed First Class Secretary to the Embassy of Spain in Nairobi and Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations organizations in the said city. Upon his return to Spain, Martí Fluxá served as director of the Royal Spanish Academy (1990-1992). He was president of Marco Polo Investments and the MGO SA Group, in addition to being a director of various companies such as the Tomás Pascual Group, Ibersecurities, IKUSI, Ángel Iglesias SA and the Caja de Ahorros y Monte de Piedad de Navarra. Currently he is president of Neinorone of the leading real estate companies in Spain, and also chairs the Spanish Association of Defense, Security, Aeronautical and Space Technologies (TEDAE) and the Tomás Pascual Institute for Nutrition and Health, among other organizations.
Throughout his career, Ricardo Martí Fluxá received many decorations. Among the most notable are the Grand Cross of the Order of Isabel la Católica, that of Commander of the Order of Carlos III and that of Commander of the Order of Civil Merit. Likewise, he distinguished himself internationally as an Honorary Commander of the Royal Victorian Order of the United Kingdom and with the Grand Cross of the Service Order of the Republic of Austria. Martí Fluxá maintained intense institutional activity. Currently, it is president of the Ankaria Foundationof the Board of Directors of the Institute of Business and Humanism, and is part of the boards of various foundations, such as the Foundation of the Royal Academy of Sciences of Spain and the Juan March Foundation. In addition, he was patron of the Guggenheim Museum (2000-2017), president of the Spanish-British Tertulias (2002-2005) and the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía (2017-2020), among other responsibilities. He has been married since 1977 and has three children.
