Martin Lee, winner of Eurovision 1976 with the group “Brotherhood of Man”, dies at 77

British singer Martin Leemember of the group “Brotherhood of Man”, with whom he won the 1976 Eurovision Song Contest with “Save your kisses for me”, has died at the age of 77. This was confirmed this Tuesday by the English group on its Facebook account, where it specified that the former singer of ‘Brotherhood of Man’ died last Sunday of heart failure and after a short illness.

“He will be greatly missed by his bandmates Nicky Stevens, Lee Sheriden and especially Sandra Stevens, to whom he has been married for 45 happy years“, wrote Brotherhood of Man on the social network, admitting that they were “totally in shock” and that they could not imagine a world without Martin Lee.

Likewise, the group spoke of the “happy memories” experienced with the late singer, with whom over the last 50 years they traveled the world together on various tours and “in harmony” and shared many musical successes, including their ‘Save me your kisses’ (Keep me your kisses), with which they won the Eurovision contest.

With “Save your kisses for me”, Lee and Brotherhood of Man not only won first place in The Hague for the United Kingdom, with a total of 164 pointsbut, according to the group’s statements, they managed to be number one in 31 countries and set a Guinness record for being the “best-selling Eurovision single of all time and the biggest winner by percentage of votes”.
