The spokesperson for Más Madrid in the Assembly, Manuela Bergerot, filed a series of documents related to the FP scandal of the government of Isabel Díaz Ayuso at the Prosecutor’s Office of the Superior Court of Justice of Madrid. More Madrid contributed to the investigation, opened by the Public Prosecutor’s Office a few months ago and in which the PSOE also joined, 342 contracts suspected of having been cut or awarded by hand and of having circumvented the law on public markets.
The new evidence provided by the opposition leader and her team represents around 6 million euros spread over 342 contracts awarded to 11 different suppliers. The documentation provided by Más Madrid covers the period between 2019, when former councilor Enrique Ossorio and Ayuso arrived in government, and 2023, when his second term ended and Ossorio was excluded from the executive to occupy the current position of President of the Government of Madrid. Assembly.
Bergerot, accompanied by deputies Hugo Martínez and Beatriz Borrás, denounced that the contracts are not isolated cases and that it is a “modus operandi of the government of Isabel Díaz Ayuso to withdraw public money from Madrilenians. The spokesperson took the opportunity to recall that the public money allegedly taken by the Ministry of Education would have been used to prevent 50,000 young people from Madrid finding themselves without a place in vocational training.
A growing scandal
The FP scandal of the government of Isabel Díaz Ayuso was revealed following an investigation carried out by elDiario.es which highlights the construction of at least eight professional training and teacher training centers without official contracts, outside the budget and without the required economic controls.
To avoid audits, payments were distributed across invoices of less than 40,000 euros, simulating independent contracts and using funds from the institutes themselves. This procedure led the public prosecutor’s office to investigate possible corruption offenses, in particular prevarication. Two of these centers, Ciudad Escolar and the Alcalá Art School, used this system for million-dollar works, and the payments were distributed among several public institution accounts.
The case began when the builder of the Ciudad Escolar center reported that he had not been paid, which revealed the mechanism used by the Ministry of Education. As a result, the prosecutor’s office opened investigations and several lower-ranking officials were fired, while key figures in the regional government when awarding contracts evaded responsibility. In this sense, Bergerot demanded that Enrique Ossorio, then Minister of Education, and Rocío Albert, Deputy Minister of Educational Policy, give every opportunity to clarify the facts and guarantee that justice is done.
