Mohammad Shazeb Khan, a 20-year-old Pakistani national, was arrested as he tried to cross the Canadian border into the United States. His plan was to carry out a shooting rampage in Brooklyn’s Jewish neighborhood, timed to coincide with commemorations dedicated to the October 7 massacre. He called the attack “the biggest attack on American soil since 9/11” and wanted to show his support for ISIS. He reportedly told a relative: “New York is the ideal place to attack Jews,” adding: “We can easily kill many of them.”
Khan was arrested on Wednesday as he tried to enter the United States through Ormstown, about 20 kilometres from the New York state border. He reportedly changed vehicles three times to avoid detection. The charges against him could carry up to 20 years in prison.
Another person linked to the scheme is under investigation.

Munich police said the investigation was led by Bavaria’s specialized anti-terror unit.
Munich police initially reported a large operation in the city centre near the Israeli consulate, saying officers opened fire and wounded a male suspect at around 9 a.m. Thursday.
Hours after the incident, police said the man was an 18-year-old with Austrian citizenship, but at the time did not comment on a possible motive, saying the investigation was ongoing.
“Third information on the situation: the suspect is an 18-year-old citizen and resident in Austria. The weapon he was carrying was an old carbine with a bayonet attached,” police said, adding that he drove to the area by car and parked it nearby.
German and Austrian publications Der Spiegel and Der Standard also reported that he was already known to police because of his links to Islamists.
