Thousands of people in Valencia and other cities across the country are demanding the resignation of the president of the Generalitat Valenciana, Carlos Mazón, for his management of DANA which devastated the Valencian regions on October 29. From 5 p.m. this Saturday, columns of hundreds of demonstrators arrived in the Valencian capital from the municipalities of Horta Sud, the region most affected by the storm which left more than 200 dead. The demonstrators have traveled miles on foot and arrive covered in mud after helping with cleaning tasks in the morning, dressed with banners. Some carry cleaning utensils to show their outrage. The demonstration officially starts at 6 p.m. but the city center is already crowded.

Dozens of entities have called for a silent demonstration in Valencia this Saturday, November 9 at 6 p.m., almost two weeks after the floods which left more than two hundred dead. Around fifty others joined a manifesto in which they called for peacefully “organizing anger” against the Valencian executive, from whom they demanded accountability for the “negligent management” of the tragedy. Organizers, neighborhood associations, unions and territorial defense organizations consider that the Consell led by Carlos Mazón acted as a “criminal”: “It is not viable for this autonomous government to last one more day” , they say. In the appeal and the messages broadcast, the organization rejects any violent expression and demands that the demands not “engage in provocations” on the part of the far right, very active in the municipalities concerned.

The protest is replicated in other regions of the state, such as in Madrid, where a solidarity rally begins at 6 p.m., or in Barcelona, where on Thursday dozens of people threw mud at the local headquarters of the PP. Entire families come to Valencia, some from flooded municipalities, others in solidarity with those affected and victims.
