“Mastercard” has successfully completed a virtual hackathon on the “Sandbox as a Service” platform, which was held in cooperation with ABB to discover innovative fintech solutions to combat climate change.
Eight leading fintech startups from the region participated in the hackathon and presented live products to support sustainable development and reduce carbon emissions. In total, more than 50 regional and local fintech solutions were evaluated. The finalists were selected based on criteria such as the ability to operate in the Azerbaijani market, offer active products ready for integration with banks and be consistent with the theme of sustainability.
On the last day, participants presented six experts representing the Digital Innovation and Development Agency, IBA, “Kapital Bank”, “Pasha Bank”, “Mastercard” and “Sabah Hub”. Experts evaluated the presented solutions in terms of relevance for banks, innovation and user experience on the “Sandbox as a Service” platform.
The winners of the sustainability hackathon were:
• 1st place – “CARBONEMIT”
• 2nd place – “KISS”
• 3rd place – “FARADAI”
The first place startup “CARBONEMIT” will receive $10,000 from IBA to expand its development and full access to the MasterCard “Sandbox as a Service” platform. Second and third place winners will receive individual access to the platform and additional MasterCard. benefits. .
These teams received high marks from judges for offering advanced approaches to solving climate problems and practical applications for banks and financial institutions.
