Lieutenant General of the Army Francisco José Gan Pampols will assume the vice-presidency of the Generalitat Valenciana for economic and social recovery.
President Carlos Mazón created this vice-presidency to centralize all the actions of the Consell aimed at the economic and social recovery and normalization of the province of Valencia and in particular in the municipalities affected by the flood of October 29.
The new vice-president will have among his functions the design of a recovery plan and the coordination of reconstruction work in the affected areas, which is why he will also be responsible for chairing the Interministerial Commission responsible for organizing and coordinating all the departments. of the Consell oriented towards the process of reconstruction of the affected regions.
Another of the functions that Francisco José Gan Pampols will assume will be the development of a protection plan to face possible natural disasters that pose risks to the population. To do this, the Generalitat will undertake a detailed analysis of the infrastructures linked to prevention.
Francisco José Gan Pampols entered the General Military Academy (Zaragoza) in 1975 and, during his career, he rose through the ranks until becoming lieutenant general in 2016. He is currently retired as he reached the regulatory age. He was born in Figueres in 1958.
Among his many responsibilities in the military field, his appointment in 2009 as director of the General Military Academy stands out, a position he held until March 2013. In March 2013, he was appointed advisor to the second head of army general staff, remaining in this position until May of the same year. In May 2013, he was appointed director of the Armed Forces Intelligence Center and in December 2016 he was promoted to lieutenant general, retaining this position until May 2017, when he was appointed chief general of state -high availability land major.
Gan Pampols leads numerous peacekeeping operations and missions in different countries. Indeed, in 1995, he participated as head of operations of AGT “Aragón” in the United Nations Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In 1996, he was head of operations as a NATO member in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In the years 2000-2001, he became operational chief of staff of the Western Multinational Brigade in Kosovo and in 2007, he was appointed head of the provincial reconstruction team in Quala e Naw (Afghanistan).
Lieutenant General Gan Pampols has a degree in political science and sociology from UNED and an honorary doctorate from the Catholic University of Valencia; He is also a member of the Cercle Cívico de Opinión.
