The president of Valencian Generalitat, Carlos Mazonasked this Sunday to stop “the hoaxes and lies” about his performance on the afternoon of October 29, in which he insisted that he had not been held incommunicado for hours, and in which he had even spoke with the mayor of Cullera. Mazón emphasized that the Government “falling into one contradiction after another” through “its entities” and criticized the fact that the government did not take command of emergencies during the fateful DANA if he had information that the Forata dam could breach the Aémet.
The statements were made before attending the meeting of the Integrated Operational Coordination Center (CECOPI) at the Eliana Emergency Coordination Center. “If it is true that the government, through Aemet, believed or had information that the dam (failure) was imminent at that time, at 5:30 p.m., why did he didn’t take command? Why didn’t you force that ES -Alert to be sent? Do you want to tell me that at 5:30 p.m. the government already knew that 80,000 lives of Valencians could be in danger and it does not take command because supposedly here at CECOPI, in a body of which the government itself is member, are they sinking or don’t know how to make decisions?” he asked.
