The president of the Generalitat Valenciana, Carlos Mazondemanded this Sunday that the government, its institutions and the left stop spreading “hoaxes and lies” on the management of the DANA emergency of October 29. The regional leader once again denied being held incommunicado that day, even while eating with journalist Maribel Vilaplana, and criticized the mayor of Cullera, Jordi Mairefor claiming not to have picked up the phone for five hours while they spoke at 6:28 p.m.
This is how the head of the Consell expressed himself upon his arrival at the Emergency Coordination Center of L’Eliana, where CECOPI is still installed, where he described it as “exhausting” with “the pain that we let us suffer “from having to”deny so much false information“. Thus, he accused the Central Executive of “falling into contradictions” in its relationship with events.
Mazón insisted twice on the fact that he was not a member of CECOPI and that this body was validly constituted at five o’clock in the afternoon. In this regard, he clarified that he was responding to calls from 5:30 p.m., both from the Minister of Justice and Interior, Salomé Pradas, and from the president of the Provincial Deputation of Valencia, Vicent Mompó.
The Valencian president criticized “that so much has been said about the meal” that he had on Tuesday and was keen to emphasize that he was not incommunicado “at any time”, so the only problems in picking up the phone were in arriving at CECOPI because “the lines had fallen”.
In this way, he argued that no one in the emergency room was “waiting for the president to make decisions”, since the consensus was already reached by the technical members, including the preparation and sending of the massive alert Es-Alert in the face of the risk of overflowing or rupture of the Forata dam.
